Product details
Anything larger than a cartridge needs one of these. A tank delivers gas at a pressure far higher than a dispenser wants, and the regulator sits between the two, stepping it down to a steady level so every charge comes out the same rather than varying with how full the cylinder happens to be.
Do you need one?
If you are using 8 g cartridges, no — they thread straight into a whipper. From 320 g upwards, and certainly for the 640 g, 666 g, 670 g and 2 kg cylinders in this range, a regulator is what makes the cylinder usable at all. Those cylinders are not built to connect to a charger holder made for small cartridges.
What it does
Adjustable output with a gauge to read it, a safety valve for pressure release, and corrosion-resistant construction. It attaches to the cylinder valve on one side and feeds the dispenser on the other.
Check the fitment
Thread and connection types vary between cylinder brands and sizes, so check compatibility with the cylinder you actually run before ordering rather than assuming one fit across every brand here. If you are unsure which you need, ask us with the cylinder you are using.
Care
Keep it dry and away from knocks that could damage the gauge. A regulator that is looked after lasts across many cylinder changeovers — treat it as permanent kitchen equipment, not a part that goes with each tank.
